The song "Denton U.S.A.", the reality TV series "Dentonvale", and the TV network DTV, all of which appear in the film, are named after Denton.
In 1972, Richard O'Brien brought Jim Sharman his treatment for "They Came From Denton High," and together they worked it into The Rocky Horror Show. In The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Janet is reading The Plain Dealer, a Cleveland, Ohio newspaper, and the map seen in The Denton Affair (I) is that of southeastern Ohio. It has been speculated that Denton is named after Denton, Texas as The Rocky Horror Show and The Rocky Horror Picture Show share several references to the 1963 B-Movie The Yesterday Machine which takes place in Texas.
