United Artists Theatres

United Artists Theatres, also known as UA Cinemas and UA Theaters, were an American theater chain that included some of the first theaters to show The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the United States. The Rocky Horror Picture Show made its official US debut on September 26, 1975 at the UA Westwood. The film remained there until it moved to its sister theater, the UA Cinema Center, screening several times a day until March 20, 1976. During the late-1970's and early-1980's, with numerous US locations, often located near malls and shopping centers, United Artists Theatres began to present the film on Friday and Saturday nights as a Midnight movie greatly expanding both the films audience and popularity.
