Henry Woolf
Henry Woolf (b: January 20, 1930 in Holborn, London) is a British actor, theatre director, and teacher of acting, drama, and theatre who portrayed a Transylvanian in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Henry Woolf was educated at Hackney Downs School, where he met future playwright Harold Pinter; he and Pinter were friends and collaborators for over 60 years.
Woolf began his acting career in the late 1950s, and started racking up credits in the early ’60s on both stage and screen. In 1971, he appeared along side Tim Curry (and future Transylvanian Anthony Milner) in Bertolt Brecht's play, Man is Man, at the Royal Court Theatre in London, England. Both Woolf and his actress wife, Susan, appeared in many shows at the Royal Court before during and The Rocky Horror Show was playing at the Theatre Upstairs in 1973. Being in the same acting circle as so many of the other cast members, Woolf was invited to be a Transylvanian in the film version.
Woolf continued to act and direct, though is presently teaching acting at the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada where and runs the annual Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan festival. Woolf was awarded The Saskatchewan Order of Merit for his works.
