The function of the Medusa is to render anyone under it's power to become helpless or turned into stone. In The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it has two settings, "Medusa" and "De-Medusa". A successful operation in either mode is indicated by the appearance of the flash of a Lightning Bolt.
