The Sherman Theater was one of The First 30 US Theaters hosting The Rocky Horror Picture Show as a midnight movie, starting Saturday midnight shows in May, 1977. The theater was owned and operated by Landmark Theatres (then Parallex Theatres) who also ran L.A. theaters the Fox Venice Theater, the Nuart Theater and the Rialto Theatre in Pasadena and The Oriental Theater in Milwaukee, WI.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show played at the Sherman from May 7, 1977 until December 27, 1980.
It closed when the building's owner decided to sell and did not renew Landmark's lease. The building became a retail outlet.
