Aside from its debut at the UA Westwood, The Rocky Horror Picture Show opened in 10 Theaters in the U.S. as part of a general release beginning on October 2, 1975.
The take in its opening week was so low, that it did not register on any charts, and disappeared quickly. The 10 prints circulated as "exclusive showings" at various theaters over the next few months until it was reissued in October, 1976 in more "college town" theaters as a double-bill with Phantom of the Paradise
