The Vista Theatre was one of the few venues to exhibit Shock Treatment during the films initial release beginning October 30, 1981. Operated by Landmark Theatres at the time,
the film ran as a midnight-only feature on Friday and Saturday nights for a few weeks to tepid response, closing by the end of the year.
The Vista screened The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday and Saturday at midnight for most of 1983. Patrons who phoned the Vista for information were warned via their taped message that the Los Angeles Times described as "no fun at all" in its March 23, 1983 edition; "all patrons will be searched. No drugs, Alcoholic beverages, knives, guns or hand grenades will be allowed in the theater."
