United Artists Theatres, also known as ''UA Theatres'' and ''UA Cinemas'', was an American theater chain established in 1924. The chain included some of the first theaters to show ''[[The Rocky Horror Picture Show]]'' in the United States during the films original 1975 release. ''The Rocky Horror Picture Show'' made its official US debut on September 26, 1975 at the [[UA Westwood]]. The film remained there until it moved to its sister theater, the [[UA Cinema Center]], screening several times a day until March 20, 1976. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, with numerous US locations often located near malls and shopping centers, United Artists Theatres began to exhibit the film on Friday and Saturday nights as a Midnight movie, greatly expanding both the films audience and popularity. The chain was sold to Regal Cinemas in 1992.
